About Us
Visions in Progress is the City of Santa Clarita’s Youth Advisory Committee. VIP contributes their ideas, opinions and recommendations for solutions on City activities, projects, issues and decisions relating to the teens of the City of Santa Clarita. Through VIP, youth have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in addition to learning how our local City government operates. Activities include meeting with City officials and department staff, excursions to other cities, and internship opportunities.

The changes made in the lives of the youth today will affect the outcome of tomorrow. VIP members encourage representation from every school, community, and organization.
As the City of Santa Clarita grows in population, geographic size, and a maturing youth constituency, it will take the leadership of our youth, along with continued full cooperation from the City of Santa Clarita, to ensure that our community, our home town, remains a desirable place for everyone to reside and enjoy. VIP continues to advocate for more activities that cater to the interests and desires of the diverse youth population of the valley.
VIP Members…
- Encourage youth leadership and responsibility through involvement.
- Create opportunities for discussion on youth issues through meetings and youth summits.
- Explore and identify issues and concerns of special importance to teens and communicate those issues to City Council, Commissioners, and the City of Santa Clarita.
- Look for ways to promote mutual understanding, respect, and communication with teens of all cultures and backgrounds.
- Participate in community service projects.
- Enhance their resumes and college applications by being a part of the government process.
- Are team players.
